Criminal Justice Management Resources
From: Roger Fulton, Captain, NY State Police, (Retired)

As many of you know I have spent 30+ years working toward the professionalization of the Criminal Justice community, particularly at the management level. We are providing the following list of available resources to assist you, or anyone you know, to take charge of their own Criminal Justice career using the resources listed.

  1. It starts with the basics of supervision in any industry. My first book, Common Sense Supervision is now in at least 5 languages and has sold more than 40,000 copies. It must say something useful. For more information go to: http://www.RogerFulton.com/books.htm
  2. My second book discussed the more advanced techniques for anyone to become a leader, in any industry. Titled Common Sense Leadership, it’s only in English but has sold nearly 20,000 copies. You can get more information on it at http://www.RogerFulton.com/books.htm
  3. Practical Law Enforcement Management is law enforcement specific in its advice and techniques. You can find out more about it at http://www.RogerFulton.com/books.htm
  4. At the Online Police Academy you can take an online course that I teach titled Basic Police Leadership for a nominal fee, much lower than standard college courses. I believe you can even get CEU’s for it. Check it out at: http://www.onlinepoliceacademy.org/basic-police-leadership/
  5. The Training of Police Supervisors in the United States is based on a study we did on police management training back in 1997. It is still available and we only offer it because we have not seen anything that seems to update it. (And we think not much has changed in police management training since then.) For more information go to http://www.RogerFulton.com/books.htm
  6. New in 2007! A Practical Career Guide for Criminal Justice Personnel, by Michael Carpenter w/ Roger Fulton
This book explains how upwardly mobile criminal justice personnel can take charge of their own careers. It contains dozens of real-world tips and guidance. For more information or to order check it out at: http://www.rogerfulton.com/books.htm

If you have any trouble accessing any of the listed webpages, or any other problem with service or questions, you may contact me personally at Roger@RogerFulton.com, and I will personally intervene to solve your problem or otherwise reply to you.

Best wishes for a long and successful career in the field of Criminal Justice,

Roger Fulton

Police Management Training Business For Sale

Dear Colleague,As I retire from my 30+ year career in law enforcement, it is time to "pass the torch" to another law enforcement professional who will take my past work, combine it with their experience, and provide continued police management training to other LEO's who would not ordinarily get adequate training. To that end, I have several police management training programs for sale. These are original training programs which I have presented around the country. They can be a supplement to a department’s training programs, taught at regional academies, or used in any other manner. It is a great opportunity for a proven, "turn key" operation for the right police department, or person looking to travel and supplement their current or retirement income. It has worked for me since 1990.If you, or any other LEO you know, may have an interest in purchasing this training business, then contact me or forward this message to them. Thanks for your time and consideration. Details follow.

What is for sale?

There are essentially 4 courses for sale. There is a 40 hour Basic Leadership Course, which provides new sergeants or lieutenants with the absolute basics of becoming a police supervisor and manager. An additional 40 hour course, Advanced Leadership, provides a series of practical, problem solving modules for more complex leadership problems. There are also two 16 hour in-service management training courses for more experienced police supervisors, generally focusing on personnel and advanced operational issues. There may also be some additional specialty courses available as well. All courses include text recommendations if warranted, assignments, lesson plans, videos and video clips, final examinations and my advice and recommendations on clients, fees and terms, including a sample "Letter of Agreement."

The successful buyer will own the copyright to all originally designed curriculums, original lesson plans and examinations. You can franchise them, partnership with others, write a book based on them, or anything else you want to do with them once we reach an agreement. In the past we have taught short courses ranging from $600.00 per day, to weeklong courses at $295.00 per student for 30 students.

The entire business, including some other courses, lesson plans, web page writeups, press releases, a client list, etc. can go for a total of $10,000. I will do what I can to help you succeed for a period of one year, with advice and counsel. The terms of sale will be cash or cashier’s check. I can write up a legal document to transfer all rights, including the final agreement on terms.

Again, these are proven courses approved, or approvable, by the POSTs in most states. I'm here if you want to discuss any aspect of this proposal. The whole enchilada is going to be sold, and soon, so I can get on with my retirement. I can be reached by e-mail at Roger@RogerFulton.comor by phone, afternoons and evenings, at 386-956-6089.

Best wishes for a long and successful career in law enforcement and beyond,

Roger Fulton
